The 1200km Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge (ADSC) is the first solar car competition in the UAE – and the competitive centrepiece of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
Designed to boost research and development in sustainable transport, twenty of the world’s top university solar car teams are set to compete in the race which will take place in the UAE between 16-19 January 2015 and end at the opening ceremony of the World Future Energy Summit.
The Petroleum Institute (PI) last month launched the solar-powered car that will represent the United Arab Emiratesmasdar solar car (UAE) in the inaugural Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge. The super-sleek, high-tech vehicle will compete against 20 international teams in a multi-day, timed road competition across 1,200 kilometres of the emirate of Abu Dhabi
The Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge is sponsored by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and hosted by Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company Masdar.
