I want a .CAT domain

On 13th June ICANN announced the list of Top Level Domains (TLDs) that have been applied for by big brands and other organisations. Anyone with the capability to operate a TLD is eligible to apply to run domains such as .car or .app. Many big brands have also applied to run their .brand domain, and, inevitably, some domains have attracted numerous competing applications. 

In the Middle East following countries have applied for a domain : -

- UAE – 25 registrations including .DUBAI, .ETISALAT, .ABUDHABI

- Qatar – 2 registrations including .DOHA and .MOZAIC

- Egypt – 1 registration – .ARAB

- Saudi - 1 registration – .AXIS

- Kuwait - 1 registration – .KFH

- Bahrain – 2 registrations – .GCC & .MOBILY

Some applications that got noticed: -

- Google has applied for both .LOL and .MEME.

- A company called Hidden Way has taken .WTF.

- Love is in the air - seven companies are looking for .LOVE, including Google

- ICM Registry has applied for .ADULT, .PORN, and .SEX,

- At least 8 companies have  applied for .MUSIC

Just to let you know .CAT domain is a sponsored top-level domain intended to be used to highlight the Catalan language and culture. Its policy has been developed by ICANN and Fundació puntCAT. It was approved in September 2005
