Last week Google executive Sundar Pichai confirmed KitKat as the latest version of Android 4.4 on the company’s official Google+ page. This news comes in after ‘KeyLime’ doing the rumors as the next version of Android.
500 Startups-backed shopping search site Pricebaba last year launched a campaign name the new version of Android after an Indian sweet called Kaju Katli, but their ambitious goal were defeated post announcement of naming the OS as Kit Kat.
As we all are aware that all the Android operating system’s are named after desserts such as: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread. The Indian start-up has started a campaign to name the next version of Android as ‘Ladoo’.
A statement posted on the website is a follows: –
” We are Indians. We have a big heart. We understand that there might be commercial pressures to do so. Or may be our voices were just not loud enough to make KajuKatli Android a reality. We still love Android and we are committed to see a version of Android that is dedicated after an Indian sweet. With enough advance notice this time, we request you to name the next version of Android as LADOO.
We love Ladoo, and we’re sure you will too! So, to make this deal sweeter, we are sending your team a box of ladoos very soon :)”
Will Google’s Android team consider this request? At least Sundar Pichai, the executive who heads up Android, will be familiar with Ladoo as he is born and brought up in India.
